(May 19, 2024) How and when did the Grand Duchy of Lithuania fortresses appear in southern Ukraine? Why were they built and what challenges did they face? Where were the borders of Kyiv Principality in south Ukraine and who lived on those lands?
(February 09, 2022) The history of Southern Ukraine begins with Catherine II and Hrihorii Potiomkin almost every time. For many years, they have been considered the founders and developers of our region. Additionally, some new facts have recently appeared about the alleged Novorosiia on the territory of Ukraine, which caused a stir of negativity among cultural historians.
(August 10, 2020) An archaeological expedition took place at Velyke Horodyshche island in Tiahynka village from July 27 to August 6. It explored medieval fortresses of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania times (14th–15th centuries).
Greetings to Lithuanian friends and partners from Natalia Bimbirayte, head of the "Cultural Center Ukraine-Lithuania" NGO, with an inherent reminder about the Vytautas Tower and Tiahyn Fortress.
The "Vhoru" media platform recorded the expedition work in 2021. Short video reflects Tiahyn and the importance of its history, as well as faces of archaeologists and volunteers from Ukraine and Lithuania. Thank you for preserving expeditions’ history!
In 2017, Tiahyn Fortress gave us unique finds of Lithuanian artifacts. These were overlays for leather purses, typical finds for Lithuania and unique ones for southern Ukraine, which testified the presence of Lithuanian material culture here. The performance was dedicated to these finds and attended by all who wished.
