Hall № 2

The hall presents costume details. They correspond to the gender, social and ethnic inhabitants’ structure, the castle-fortress defensive function, and, at the same time, its important role as a trading post-customs. Those people could be soldiers, customs officers, merchants who passed customs on the trade route from west to east. Among the finds there were: iron belt buckles, bronze embroidered plaques, which were widely distributed in the costume of the local and nomadic population at that time. In particular, residents of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Rus, and Žemaitija: iron and bronze overlays for leather bags were typical for Lithuania inhabitants, who could be at customs or among merchants; Kauri shell, used as money in ancient times, or as an adornment, which is used in the jewelry business up to now.
